Before I started I decided on a target audience of males and females between the age of 12 and 17. This audience are teenagers in High School.
This is my target audience. As you can see they are like normal teenagers. Just want to be themselves and not what others want them to be. I have different demographics and physcographics. They all have different likes, dislikes, beliefs, habits etc. All of this makes them unique.
Skins is a British teenage drama which is shown on E4 that follows a group of teenagers in Bristol, South West, England, through the two years of sixth form. The plot line explores issues such as dysfunctional families, mental illness (including eating disorders), sexual orientation identity, substance abuse and death. The target audience is familar with this show and will be aware of these issues and will face them atleast once in their teenage live.
Waterloo Road is an award winning BBC television drama series set in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England, about a troubled comprehensive high school. The programme focuses on its teachers and students and confronts social issues, including affairs, abortion, divorce and suicide, which like Skins the audience of the magazine will either know about from experience or been told about it fully.
As the audience of magazine are familar with these programs they will be advertised in the magazine. Also I would advertise iTunes products as the target audience will have used this company to download music also they might have one of the products e.g. ipad.
Q have a similar type of reader that are "open minded experience seekers, the Q audience don’t define themselves by the music they listen to. Music is an important passion, but their love of music will never be to the detriment of their other passions, such as film, sport and comedy".
The reason why people will buy my magazine is because it is different and very independant as it doesn't stick to just one genre like hip-hop or rap, but explores other genres. If a reader buys this magazine thay are morely likely to become independant and a indivual.
When I asked my target audience what genre they prefered 38.9% of them said POP, closely followed with R'N'B ,Indie and Rock. In order from most to less the targeted audience said they spent most of their money on food/drink then music/DVD and finally clothes. Over 50% of them said they had £5.01- £10 to spend per week so we have to advertise products that are in their budget.
I need to attract advertisers to fund/ sponsor my magazine in exchange for them advertising their products for the readers to buy. Below is a example of NME's media pack which helps to attract its avertisers by showing what the reader likes etc.

or you can go to http://http//www.ipcadvertising.com/ipc-brands/2009/feb/03/nme and click view media pack to see a larger version. I did a media pack/ mood board on the type of the music my target audience likes. This could attract advertisers. Here is my media pack for LOUD.
What music the target audience enjoy?

You say @they will be advertised@ in your magazine. But your job will be to ATTRACT advertising. How are you going to do that? What will attract advertisers? You need to explain what your target audience likes, what disposable income they have, where they shop etc. And I'm not quite sure how your audience is different to the audience for Q, which you mention towards the end. Can you explain it more?
